The Five-Minute Challenge

You’ve got five minutes. One canvas. Two brushes. Go.

It sounds chaotic and it is. Paint splatters, elbows bump, your brain rushes to keep up with the colors flying across the canvas. But there’s a strange magic in the speed. There’s no time to overthink, no room to be precious.

Last Saturday, I tried this with my neighbor. We ended up painting what looked like a carnival ride exploding in the sky. We laughed so hard we almost dropped our brushes. The painting? Wild, messy, oddly beautiful. Us? Even closer than before.

The five-minute challenge works because it shuts down the “I’m not good at this” voice and opens the “Let’s just see what happens” door. Next time you paint with someone, try it. You’ll make a mess. And a memory.
